Band Opportunities at Churchill 

Three Levels of Band Class: 

Concert Band: All 9th graders, plus a few upper classmen who are learning new instruments and/or acting as peer mentors. 
Symphony Band: 10th-12th graders. 
​Wind Ensemble: Audition only. Mostly 11th and 12th graders. 

Mrs. Hering also teaches the Theatre Tech course, which includes guitar in addition to learning the lights, audio and rigging systems in our Performing Arts Center. All students are welcome, but enrollment is capped at 12 so sign up early! 

Mrs. Kilgore teaches the Churchill Orchestra. This is a 9th-12th grade class with no audition necessary.

Co-Curricular (After School) Ensembles: 

Marching Band: late summer and fall
Jazz Band: Winter
Percussion Ensemble: Winter
Color Guard: summer and fall
Drumline: summer and fall

Yes, students can be an athlete and participate in after school band opportunities! Marching Band works with these fall sports: cross country and swim/dive. Jazz Band has a very light schedule and can work with a variety of sports, depending on competition dates. 

Yes, students can take a 7th hour class and participate in athletics and after school band opportunities. This is a district policy.
