Curriculuar Classes
Concert Band is a non-audition band for 9th grade students that have played at least one year in band class or taken private lessons. This band performs for school concerts and district festival.
Symphony Band is a non-audition band for 10th-12th grade students with previous high school band experience. This band performs for school concerts and district festival.
Wind Ensemble is an audition-only band for students in grades 10-12. This band performs for school concerts, district festival, state festival (alternate years), and travels (alternate years).
Chamber Orchestra is a non-audition orchestra for students that play a string instrument with at least one year experience. This orchestra performs for school concerts, district festival, state festival (alternate years) and travels (alternate years.
Co-Curricular Opportunities
Marching Band is a summer/fall activity that is open to any student enrolled in a band or orchestra class. Students go to an overnight camp in August and meet on T/Th afternoons throughout the fall.
Drumline is an auxiliary unit of the marching band and is audition-only. It is open to students enrolled in a band class that play percussion. Drumline attends all marching band practices and events and also has an additional camp and practices throughout the summer.
Color Guard is an auxiliary unit of the marching band and is audition-only. It is open to any student and enrollment is a music class and previous dance experience is not necessary. Color Guard members attend all marching band practices and events and also have additional practices throughout the summer.
Percussion Ensemble is open to all percussionists enrolled in a band class and is non-audition. The percussion ensemble meets after school November-April and performs on school concerts and MSBOA festivals. This Ensemble has been twice named "Oustanding Chamber Ensemble" by the Michgian School Band and Orchestra Association.
Winter Guard is a competitive indoor guard that is active November-March. It is open to any student through an audition process and enrollment is a music class and previous dance experience is not necessary.
Chamber Choirs are non-audition chamber ensembles open to band students from November - March. The Chamber Choirs meet once a week after school and are coached by a specialist on each instrument.

Jazz Band is open to band students that play saxophone, trombone/baritone, trumpet, guitar, bass, piano, and drumset. The jazz band meet after school November-February and performs on two concerts. It is a non-audition group, however if there is more interest than spots available, students are selected by band/chair placement.
Pit Orchestra is open to students enrolled in a music class and performs for the all-school musical. Students are generally chosen via chair placement as there are a limited number of spots available.
Symphony Orchestra is a group that performs at the spring orchestra concert. The strings meet during their regular class time, but the winds and percussion meet after school several times prior to the performance. The winds and percussion students are chosen via chair placement.
